About Me

About me

Just in case you were wondering who I am, my name is Lucie Wellburn.

I am a wife and a mum who loves to garden. I am not a gardener, I am not trained in any specialist horticultural field, I just love to garden. I just do what I do, what I’ve learned along the way. Sometimes I get it wrong and sometimes things just go right without me knowing exactly what I’ve done to replicate it. I always say, “if a plant dies in my garden, then it’s obviously not supposed to be here.”

I’ve always had a garden in which to tinker and potter around…but then in 2018, I introduced my husband Darren to a house with a garden almost three times the size of our then garden. Not just three times as big but fully overgrown with brambles! You couldn’t see beyond the front of the house for the overspill of overgrowth burgeoning from the back.

I actually expected him to laugh at me and run away, fast as he could but he didn’t. He too could see the potential of what could be. We have a son with Autism and he’s not always a fan of leaving the house so to have such a wide expanse of garden to play in would be hugely beneficial, to our son and us.

Almost three years later and we are getting there. I think I said five years to get it done, but as we know, a garden is an ongoing project. It’s nice to be able to sit back in the garden these days and plan what else there is to do.

So here we are, I wanted to share with you what we have done and what is still to come.

The Willows

In the very early days…

There was a lot to do…

Hidden by triffids

One big jungle

Clearing a path through

As the real hard work starts

Hi, we'd love to hear from you...
